In many projects there is a stage where people start to question whether it's worth the effort. I've sometimes felt like that with regard to writing this blog for example. I write stuff as often as I can, hoping that something in what I say will encourage people to pray, yet I have no real idea if anyone is reading this. For all I know I maybe my only reader! It would be all to easy to pack the blog in on my down days, but I've learned that in life anything worth doing, is worth persisting with.
Prayer is like that, often we pray and pray for ages to little apparent effect, and we are tempted to give up. But scripture exhorts us not to give up: Luke 18:2-8, so we need to learn to dig deep, and to be persistent in our prayers. I can testify to the fact that persevering in prayer is worth it. A few days ago someone reminded me of something I'd prayed about months ago, and they then told me how they had recently seen that prayer specifically answered in their family. Now I remember praying for the situation on a number of occasions, but having heard nothing more for months I had given up on expecting it to be answered. Needless to say I was delighted to hear that it had been answered. So let's persist with prayer even though you and I may not always feel it's working.
If we see the same level of response to Bethlehem Live as they did in Bolton, then we will be in the privileged position of sharing the Gospel with over a thousand people in one day. Surely such an opportunity is worth some serious prayer?
Let's pray for:
- Many visitors on the day.
- Many 'new births' by His Spirit.
- Many healings through the power of His love.
